Residential Weekend Retreats

Cavan Retreats

A retreat gives you a chance to put aside the concerns and demands of your everyday routine. By getting away from the noise and clutter of the city or wherever you come from, you can begin to relax and open up.

Many people who go on retreat feel more grounded, calmer and in touch with themselves.

Those who go on retreat regularly find these qualities pervading the rest of their lives, and find their spiritual practice naturally deepening.

The retreats listed here are suitable if you've done a meditation course with us.

Contact the centre or email us to book on.

Weekend Retreat:
The World on Fire: Awakening the Senses

Flame Image for September Retreat
Friday 14th - Sunday 16th September 2018
Led by Prajnagita, Jnanadhara & Atulyamitra.

The senses, no less than the soul, have their spiritual mysteries to reveal.
  - Oscar Wilde

In his Fire Sermon, the Buddha speaks of the senses as ablaze, describing how they are burning with the fires of greed, hatred and delusion. He speaks of how, without awareness, the senses can lead us into states of confusion and pain.

On this retreat, we'll be directly exploring the nature of our sense experience: eye, ear, nose, tongue body and mind.

We'll explore the way that experience arises moment by moment and how, through soaking this process with awareness, we can quench the fires and transform our senses into doorways to spiritual awakening!

Cost: €220 waged / €180 low-waged / €130 unwaged or student.
This retreat will take place in Mucklagh, Co. Wicklow

Friday 26th - Monday 29th October 2018

Monks, this is the direct path for the purification of beings, for the surmounting of sorrow and lamentation, for the disappearance of dukkha and discontent, for the acquiring of the true method, for the realization of nibbāna, namely these four foundations of mindfulness
   - The Buddha.

Mindfulness practice is a profound and liberating practice.

By being aware of the four satipatthanas, the foundations of mindfulness, namely body, feeling-tone, mind and dharmas, we can truly come into awareness of the depths of our experience, free ourselves from reactivity and open up freedom of heart and mind.

On this retreat, we will especially explore these foundations of mindfulness through mindfulness meditation, and also through talks, discussion and devotion to the Buddha.

Cost: €185 waged / €165 low-waged / €125 unwaged or student.
Takes place in Sandville House, Co. Cavan.
