Dublin Buddhist Centre

Giving

We are asking you, our friends, to help us raise €70,000 to cover the basic renovation work on the premises.

Whether your means are great or small, we hope you'll be as generous as possible. We need several sizeable gifts for this campaign, but we value small gifts too. To reach our goal we need your support today.

Raising €70,000 looks a little like this:

Donated Money Triangle

What will my money be spent on?

Electrics: € 10,000
Plumbing: € 10,000
Flooring: € 10,000
Construction: € 40,000

Total:
€ 70,000

When do we need it by?

We aim to have all donations and pledges in by March 2008.

How can I give?

There are a number of ways for you to give to this exciting endeavour:

Make a donation:

  • Post or drop us in a cheque made out to the Dublin Buddhist Centre.
Our address is 42 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.
  • Pay by credit or debit card using this secure link.
  • Drop in a cash donation.

Or make a pledge:

If you'd like to give a meaningful gift to the campaign but are not in a position to give right now,we encourage you to make a pledge and pay off your commitment over the next few months.

Even a series of seemingly modest gifts become significant over a period of time – much like building a structure brick by brick. It just takes a bit of planning.

Some ideas for raising pledges:

Arrange your own fund-raising events – for example, a number of artists at the centre are talking about the possibility of a group exhibition with work for sale - could you contribute? For all you musicians out there, could you organise a charity gig?

Participate in sponsored events – several of us recently raised €1,275 by participating in the women's mini marathon and had a great day while we did it.

Offer training or skills – in the North London Buddhist Centre practitioners from the BodyMind collective are offering taster sessions of their skills for a fraction of their usual fee. Have you a skill that you can share from which the centre can now benefit?

Raise money from your family and friends – WWF Runners UK encourage their supporters to raise money by filling up Smartie tubes with family and friends' loose change.

Sell off unneeded personal assets such as cars or stocks and shares or smaller items such as books, CDs, household goods – Aryaloka Buddhist Centre fundraises for their 'Bridge of Light Fund' by selling items on eBay or Amazon.

Siphon off a portion of your matured SSIA and encourage others to do the same – if you've managed to put money aside for an SSIA over the last five years, why not continue to make equal monthly payments to the centre?

Please let us know If you want to make a pledge or need help with creating ideas to raise a pledge.
