Residential Weekend Retreats
A retreat gives you a chance to put aside the concerns and demands of your everyday routine. By getting away from the noise and clutter of the city or wherever you come from, you can begin to relax and open up.
Many people who go on retreat feel more grounded, calmer and in touch with themselves.
Those who go on retreat regularly find these qualities pervading the rest of their lives, and find their spiritual practice naturally deepening.
The retreats listed here are suitable if you've done a meditation course with us.
Mind: Wellspring of Human Experience
How does our experience happen in the way that it does? Where do pleasure and pain come from? These are questions that have obsessed humanity throughout history.
Buddhism teaches that the answer lies in the mind. It sees that state of the mind as the crucial factor in determining the quality of our experience.
On this weekend retreat we will deepen our understanding of the human mind and see how we can work with it creatively for the happiness and freedom of ourselves and others.
The weekend will be led by Maitrikaya and Jnanadhara and will include plenty of meditation - where we work directly with the mind – as well as talks and discussion. All the beautiful environs of Mucklagh House in the Wicklow Mountains.
It is a particularly suitable retreat for people who have not been on retreat before.
Cost: €220 waged / €180 low-waged / €130 unwaged or student.

Spring Retreat - The Six Perfections
The Bodhisattva Ideal is that sublime ideal of Buddhism which dedicates all practice that we do as not just being for ourselves, but rather for the sake of all beings. At its heart is the Bodhisattva, the spiritual hero who seeks to gain Enlightenment not for his or her own sake only, but for the sake of all sentient beings.
One of the main ways they do this is by cultivating The Six Perfections or paramitas. These 'perfections' or 'transcendental virtues' are three sets of pairs: generosity and ethics, patience and vigour, samadhi and wisdom.
At the start of our spiritual career, each of these pairs can be in dynamic tension. But a Bodhisattva synthesizes the sublimest heights and profoundest depths of these perfections, unifying them into the Bodhi Heart, the heart of Enlightenment.
From this Bodhi Heart, the deepest wisdom and compassion of Buddhism flow for the benefit of all.
On this retreat, we’ll be exploring these wonderful Six Perfections, and hopefully see for ourselves how they can profoundly affect not just our own Dharma lives, but the lives of all beings.
Cost: €215 waged / €195 low-waged / €155 unwaged or student.
Takes place in Sandville House, Co. Cavan.
